My Must-Have Hair Care Products

I talked about my AM/PM Skincare Routine, but now let’s talk about hair. I feel like with hair products, it really just depends on the person and what their hair type is. I wanted to make a round-up of products that I love, but also ones that my friends (with much different hair types/textures) use & love.

A few things about my hair type and routine: it can be a little frizzy, on the thicker side and has a kinky wave to it. I usually wash my hair three times per week. I only use shampoo on my roots and then let it rinse through the ends to avoid drying my ends out. I’ve been using the Olaplex No. 4 shampoo & No. 5 conditioner because I got a sample at Sephora (tip: if you go to their store, you can ask them for a sample of literally anything) and really like it, but it’s a bit pricey for me. I’m in the process of finding a new shampoo/conditioner to use, so send me any recommendations you guys have.

I also try to avoid any heat on my hair during the week. I will usually let it air dry and just use Kristin Ess Air Dry Cream or a wave spray. If I am going out or need to look a bit more put together, I usually curl it with a wand. I’ve been using the Kristin Ess Soft Wave Pivoting Wand and loveee it.

Ok, so here are my go-to, mane betches:

Kenra Working Spray
hair care

Perfect hairspray if you don’t want your hair to feel crunchy or hard. It keeps your hair touchable and gives it movement + texture. Where to buy: Ulta or Amazon

Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray:

It smells so good and I love using it when I curl my hair for extra texture and volume. Where to buy: Sephora or Amazon

Mythic Oil L’Oréal Professionnel

My roommate showed me this oil and I’ve been using it for the last two years and it’s a must-have. Perfect for dry ends and it doesn’t make your hair look greasy at the roots. Love it. (I had a hard time finding it online, but normally I get it from Amazon.)

Olaplex No. 3:

My favorite at-home hair treatment. It helps rebuild broken chemical bonds and strengthens your hair. It’s a must if you dye your hair, especially if you bleach or lighten. Where to buy: Walmart, Amazon or Sephora

Kristin Ess Pivoting Wand:

I love anything Kristin Ess, but this wand is nice because it rotates for easier use. This wand is good for loose curls.
And what’s the difference between a wand and iron, you ask? Here’s Kristin’s answer: “You use a wand when you want fuller, more voluminous waves/curls. And you use a curling iron when you want more polished, textured waves. ” Another plus about this wand, it comes with a heat protector glove (no more burning yourself!) and also a wide tooth comb, which is another mane betch must-have for me. Where to buy: Target

Silk Pillow Case

hair

Apparently sleeping on a silk pillowcase is better for your hair and skin because it reduces friction, causes less breakage and irritation. However, silk can be pricey, but there are some satin options that are better than your normal pillowcase and still affordable. Splurge | Steal

Scrunchies

I’ve been loving scrunchies lately. They are fun & cute, but also more gentle on your hair than normal hairbands. I’ve been using Goody scrunchies as my go-to, especially when I’m throwing my hair up for the gym or washing my face. I try to swap it out for a cuter one if I’m going out or to work. Where to buy: Amazon

What is the one hair care product you can’t live without? Let me know in the comments!

I’ve heard about silk pillow being more gentle on the hair, but never knew is it true or just a beauty myth 😀
